Announcement of winning Blue Innovation Award 

In 2021, Seavolt won the Blue Innovation ‘Swell Award’ for our collaborative project MPVAqua, done with the DEME Group, the Jan De Nul Group, TRACTEBEL, UGent, and SOLTECH NV. The highly innovative MPVAqua project aims to develop a new cost-competitive technology for offshore floating PV plants.

After successful completion of laboratory testing, a real-life testing facility off the Belgian coast is currently in the works. Large-scale offshore solar farms, possibly in combination with other technologies such as aquaculture, are expected to make a major contribution to a more sustainable future. 

The Blue Innovation Awards, organised by the Blauwe Cluster (Blue Cluster) vzw, recognise initiatives linked to the blue economy that have market potential, international ambitions and that contribute to the delivery of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
